Interviews
You got your big break from radio as a radio personality know as Chris Luva Luva. What did you learn from having that radio prespective?
I learned a lot about the politics there are so many people from the artist, producers and A & R's at radio stations. You get the whole spectrum you get to hear from the artist's point of view, you get to hear from the producer's point. It’s really a good learning school. That’s what it was for me because I took what everybody brought to radio and gathered the info for myself. So I learned how the industry worked or even how some people went about getting their records played. I learned alot from radio.
Who is all on Disturbing The Peace?
Shawna, 4 ize, I- 20 and Fate Wilson
When are we going to hear something from the rest of the Disturbing The Peace artists?
The group album is more than likely to come after the “Word of Mouf” album. The “Word of Mouf” album is going to set up the group album.
Where do you see yourself in the next five years?
I am just trying to take music to the next level. I am in the game to change music, I just want to be at least 3 or 4 albums deep. I don’t feel I have started yet. In the next 5 years I want to be at least 4 or 5 albums deep. People have been congradulating me, but I don’t feel I have even started yet. I look up to people like Scarface and people with longevity that’s how you know you have done something. I am just getting pass the sophomore jinx stage. On the third album then you get that formula that’s how you know you are doing something right. That’s what success is to me, I broke the one hit wonder thing, now the sophomore album.
Whats up with you and Free from 106 & Park. Every time you’re on the show it seems the two of you seem to have something going on we don’t know about?
Lets just keep that the way it is. I can’t really speak on that. (Laugh)
What is the craziest rumor you ever heard about your self?
Being in a fight with Trick Daddy and going to jail. We did a show in Alabama and everybody was like how did
you get out of jail. I’m like how did this rumor start? Trick and me are supposed to do a song together we have never been on this shit.
Do you think that all the M.T.V exposure cheats you of some of the more hardcore fans just because they see you on TV every five minutes?
I think you're always going to have people that feel like it's a respect level when you're underground and you don't sell a certain amount of records or don't cross over to a certain amount of audience. Then its a respect level when people see you going commercial, but you stay doing underground shit and stay level headed. As long as you're head is not on the next level and you stay doing underground shit, you might be on certain records, but I think people understand as I bring it back on the next record.
What do you have to say to anyone coming up in the music industry?
Keep doing it, the more you do it the more you learn. Keep knocking on doors, someone will open one. The independent game not only makes you a C.E.O you learn how to be a business man as well as an artist. You don’t want to ever be just an artist, otherwise you'll get taken advantage of. The independent game is the best way because you really don’t lose.
